Check my IP address
APP $ myip ✓ A tool with no input fields: It displays incoming request information and temporarily keeps detailed lookup results in this tab when they are saved successfully · No third-party lookup service Connection information lookup PUB 2026-07-20UPD 2026-10-28VERIFY Standards and official sourcesSee the public IP address you are using to access the internet, along with connection and device details, in one place. Each item explains who can see that value and how. This site answers directly, without querying another company. Location, provider, and other details are retrieved only when you click to request them.
Looking up your public IP address. This may take a few seconds, depending on your connection.
Using this tool
When it helps
Use this tool to check the public IP address that an internet service sees for your current connection. It provides a starting point when checking an address for an access allowlist or comparing access from an office network and another connection. After changing a VPN, run the basic lookup again. This address alone cannot show whether all traffic takes the same path.
Opening the page starts the basic IP lookup. Location, provider, and connection details require the Look up details button. The device and browser card reads values provided by the browser. Each card has a different source, so keep track of which card supplied the value you are interpreting.
Understanding results
PUBLIC IP is the address observed for a lookup request to this site. It identifies the IPv4 or IPv6 family used for that request; it does not test both families. COUNTRY is a country code. EDGE identifies the Cloudflare location that handled the request, which is not necessarily your city or the nearest location.
CONNECTION is the connection protocol reported by the browser. TLS / HTTP shows connection information from the lookup response, while CF WARP shows the WARP status of that request. In the details card, REGION / CITY and APPROX. COORDS are approximate IP locations. ISP / AS identifies the network ASN and organization, not a subscriber or an exact home address.
IP TIMEZONE is associated with the IP address; TIMEZONE in the device card comes from browser settings. SCREEN reports browser screen dimensions and scaling. OS is also an interpretation of USER AGENT. TLS CIPHER / RTT and BOT SCORE appear only when provided. A missing value does not mean zero or a finding that the connection is safe.
Example of a failed lookup
If the basic lookup endpoint returns HTTP 404, PUBLIC IP and the other basic lookup values show as unavailable. This can happen in an environment without the Cloudflare lookup function. The CONNECTION field and the device and browser panel can still show values provided by the browser. The details card remains in the not-requested state until you run the detailed lookup or stored results are restored. A failed basic lookup alone does not establish an internet-wide outage.
Questions and answers
Why does this differ from the IP inside my router?
Devices can use private addresses behind a router and pass through NAT when accessing the internet. This tool sees the address of the request received externally, which can differ from the address configured on a device. An office proxy or VPN can also affect the path it observes.
Does an unavailable IPv6 address mean IPv6 cannot work?
A request arriving over IPv4 does not establish whether IPv6 is supported. This tool does not make separate test connections over both address families. An unconfirmed address in the other family means only that this lookup did not obtain one.
Does a different time zone prove that a VPN is in use?
A time zone mismatch cannot establish VPN use. Browser settings or inaccurate IP location information can also cause a difference. Matching time zones do not prove the absence of a VPN or proxy either.
Does Look up again refresh the details too?
Look up again runs the basic IP lookup. Successfully retrieved details kept in this tab are reused after a refresh, so they are not guaranteed to describe a new connection. Check for the notice identifying a previously retrieved result and distinguish when each lookup occurred.
Further details
How it operates
The browser requests the basic lookup from this site and separates the IP, country, and connection values returned by the Cloudflare edge into display fields. Clicking the details button sends a request to the site function. It does not submit an address to a separate IP lookup provider, but the lookup still requires communication with a server.
The device card reads browser language, screen information, time zone, and USER AGENT. It can therefore remain available when the basic lookup fails. Keeping details temporarily within a tab and making internet requests are separate operations. This tool should not be described as performing every operation entirely inside the browser.
Standards and references
The linked RFC 791 and RFC 8200 provide the IPv4 and IPv6 foundations. RFC 7301 describes ALPN negotiation of an application protocol within a TLS connection. The IANA Time Zone Database supplies time zone names and rules. These sources do not guarantee the accuracy of an IP location or the quality of a connection.
Cloudflare Request documentation distinguishes country, ASN, edge location, time zone, and connection properties. Availability depends on the property. Read displayed values together with their sources and unavailable states, rather than estimating values missing from a response.
Constraints
This tool does not locate an exact position, measure connection speed, detect a VPN, or verify a device identity. Addresses and location information can vary with the request time and path. Before comparing another service, check whether the connection, time, and address family are comparable.
A local copy without the Cloudflare lookup functions may fail to retrieve an IP address. That error means the particular lookup did not complete; it does not establish an internet-wide outage. Before sharing the screen, check which public IP and device details you intend to disclose.
